The Denver Broncos have waived running back Cody Schrader, the team announced Sunday.
Schrader (5-9, 214 pounds) starred in the team's preseason finale, rushing 13 times for 42 yards while adding six receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown in a 34-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Those 132 yards from scrimmage apparently weren't enough to win Schrader a spot on Denver's active roster.
The 26-year-old running back has spent time with five NFL teams since entering the league as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri in 2024, and he will now hit the waiver wire.
The Broncos appear set to have J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey and Jonah Coleman serve as their top three running backs this fall with Tyler Badie also on the 53-man squad. Schrader might be a target
for Denver's practice squad, but Jaleel McLaughlin's Instagram post seemed to imply he is bidding farewell to Broncos Country.
