The Denver Broncos started slow before pulling off a 20-13 comeback win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday afternoon.
After Denver's offense was three-and-out on the game's opening drive, Broncos pass rusher Nik Bonitto strip-sacked Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and linebacker Alex Singleton recovered the fumble, but that takeaway was negated by an illegal contact penalty called against cornerback Riley Moss. Following that, Jacksonville and Denver exchanged three more punts in a scoreless first quarter.
In the second quarter, Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten scored on a one-yard touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead. That score was set up by Lawrence's 32-yard pass to Parker Washington one play earlier.
On the ensuing kickoff, Broncos running back Tyler Badie had a 38-yard returning, setting Denver up at the 40-yard line. Five plays later, Bo Nix connected on a 49-yard pass to Jaylen Waddle. After that big play, J.K. Dobbins had two carries for no gains followed by a one-yard loss on third down. Denver's offense was then booed by home fans as the offense was forced to settle for a 20-yard Wil Lutz field goal to make it 7-3 midway through the second.

Later in the second quarter, after Nix threw a 27-yard pass to running back Tyler Badie and a 27-yard toss to Troy Franklin on consecutive plays, the Broncos got the ball down to the nine-yard line. Three plays later, facing 3rd-and-goal from the eight, Nix needlessly threw a pass while backpedaling and it was intercepted by Jacksonville in the end zone for a touchback, preserving a 7-3 lead.
Jacksonville then went 54 yards on seven plays before Cam Little converted a 44-yard field goal to make it 10-3 going into halftime. After the break, the Jags went 64 yards on ten plays before settling for a 23-yard field goal to extend their lead to 13-3. Lutz converted a 45-yard field goal on Denver's next drive to make it 13-6.
On the following Jacksonville possession, Moss intercepted a Lawrence pass at the Broncos' 33-yard line, giving Denver a much-needed spark. After that takeaway, the Broncos went 64 yards on nine plays, capping off the drive when Nix threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to tight end Nate Adkins to tie the game at 13-13 early in the fourth.

After a near-interception from Ja'Quan McMillian on the Jags' next drive, Little missed a 54-yard field goal attempt, keeping the game tied midway through the fourth. Denver's offense then went 56 yards on five plays before rookie running back Jonah Coleman scored on a three-yard run, his first career touchdown, to give the Broncos a 20-13 lead.

After forcing a punt, Denver was able to run out the clock with Coleman leading the way, securing a win.
Coleman briefly exited the game in the first quarter and was examined in the team's blue medical tent, but he returned to the game after one series. Later, in the second half, J.K. Dobbins went into the blue tent after an apparent injury. The Broncos announced Dobbins as questionable to return with a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter, and he never returned.
