The Denver Broncos have named nine team captains for the 2026 NFL season, coach Sean Payton announced after Wednesday's practice.
On offense, players elected quarterback Bo Nix, wide receiver Courtland Sutton and guard Quinn Meinerz. On defense, players elected cornerback Pat Surtain, linebacker Alex Singleton, safety Talanoa Hufanga and defensive lineman D.J. Jones. On special teams, kicker Wil Lutz has once again been named captain, and he is now joined by safety Devon Key.
Last year, Denver's team captains were Nix, Sutton and Meinerz on offense; Surtain, Jones, Hufanga and Singleton on defense; and Lutz on special teams.
Sutton is entering his sixth consecutive season as a captain while Nix and Meinerz are joining him as offensive captains
for the third straight year. Surtain is also entering his third season as a defensive captain.
