The Denver Broncos picked up what was easily one of their most impressive and exciting regular-season wins in years over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night.
The Rams were fresh off a 22-point shellacking of the New York Giants just six days prior, setting them back up on the road to the Super Bowl that most expect them to be on this season. In fact, if you asked for an unbiased opinion from fans around the league, the Rams are likely considered the best team in the NFL, or at least they were before Sunday Night Football.
John Breech of CBS Sports saw it as an impressive victory after Denver's upset. While handing out letter grades for each team in the league, he gave the Broncos a solid B+ for this win. It's likely that the grade would have
been even higher if not for the team laying an egg in the first half inside their own stadium.
"There is no team better than the Broncos at pulling off miraculous comebacks, and they once again proved that on Sunday night," wrote Breech for CBS. "The Broncos trailed 16-0 at halftime, but then they completely flipped the script on the Rams. Bo Nix suddenly caught fire and Denver's defense finally decided to show up for the game.
"The Rams piled up nearly 500 yards, but the Broncos' defense came through when it matter(ed) most, especially Talanoa Hufanga who had a pick six and a game-sealing interception on the final play. This team is already harnessing the magic of last season's AFC title run and after beating the Jaguars and Rams in consecutive weeks, it's pretty clear that Denver has what it takes to beat anyone in the NFL."
Breech gave only five teams higher than a B+ grade for Week 3: Las Vegas, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Washington and Chicago.
The Broncos have back-to-back wins over two teams that were in the playoffs last year and have each been playing great football this season. Despite a rough schedule to start the year, the Broncos are navigating things well.
Up next is the San Francisco 49ers, one of only five unbeaten teams remaining in the league. Kickoff is set for 2:25 p.m. MT on Sunday, and that game will be played in Santa Clara.
