After six weeks of watching a fledgling Denver Broncos team work their way to a 4-2 record, Super Bowl 50 champion Chris Harris had some words about the Broncos' offensive output and success.
While the defense since Week 1 has been the focus and topic of attention and praise from pundits and experts, the offense has been a topic of ridicule and criticism for their slow starts, and more recently, for the struggles of quarterback Bo Nix.
Harris came at things from a different perspective, saying that the blame for the offense is not squarely on Nix's shoulders during an appearance on FanDuel TV’s "Up and Adams" show.
"I can’t say it’s just Bo, you gotta say it’s the whole totality of the offense,” Harris said. "We see times where, you know, Bo is just not
letting it go, like not letting it loose.”
Harris also pointed to the anemic rushing attack from Denver as a reason for concern, which has suffered without rookie running back Jonah Coleman. Luckily for the Broncos, Coleman is eligible to return from a four-week stint on the injured reserve list this week. Coleman's potential return will hopefully lift this Denver running game back out of obscurity.
The Broncos have also had trouble incorporating wide receiver Jaylen Waddle into the offense. Waddle has been explosive when he has the ball; it just hasn't come his way as often as he or anyone on the team would probably like.
"They gotta find a way to unlock Waddle," Harris said. "We haven’t unlocked him yet; Courtland hasn’t played his game yet."
Harris' final message for the offense was simple: "They gotta get it together.”
The next opportunity to get things going will be on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, who are coming off a massive upset of the Los Angeles Rams in Week 6.
