The Denver Broncos have a clear mission in 2026: get to and win the Super Bowl. Anything short of that will be considered a failure. That is the ultimate goal for every team at the beginning of a new NFL season, but for some teams it's much more realistic than for others.
For the Broncos, it almost seems like an expectation this year.
With that in mind, as a fan of the Broncos, what is your biggest concern for the team this season? If you didn't answer Bo Nix, then you're different than a large portion of the national media.
Pro Football Focus has taken a look at each team in the league and come up with a primary concern for all 32 of them. When it comes to the Broncos, the development of Nix was the choice for Gordon McGuinness.
"The Broncos simply
don’t have many weaknesses on either side of the ball," McGuinness wrote for PFF. "If you were being picky, you could argue that an offensive line as good as theirs would benefit from having a truly elite running back behind it. What will likely define their season, though, is how big of a step forward Bo Nix can take in his third year. He has already improved his PFF passing grade from 73.8 as a rookie to 76.1 in Year 2, while his big-time throw rate climbed from 3.7% to 5.0%. Another jump in 2026 could be what takes an already talented Broncos roster to the next level."
How much of a concern is Bo Nix for the Broncos in 2026?
Whether it be his development or his recovery from a broken ankle in the playoffs, questions about how well Nix can lead this team in 2026 have poured in this offseason. But he seems to have fully recovered from the injury, and under the guidance of coach Sean Payton and offensive coordinator Davis Webb, Broncos fans probably aren't too concerned about how well Nix might play.
Having to compete within a hungry AFC West division. Having a new play-caller on offense. Playing a first-place schedule. Those are the team's more pressing concerns.
That first-place schedule is front-loaded with an incredibly tough six-week stretch to begin the season, by the way.
But McGuinness also cites the team's offensive line and defense as reasons to be optimistic. The Broncos have arguably the best offensive line and the best defense in the league in order to fall back on, should Nix need a crutch.
But from what we have seen of Nix in his first two seasons, that won't be necessary.
