They meet again.
Denver Broncos star cornerback Pat Surtain and Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Davante Adams will face off for the fifth time in their careers on Sunday Night Football in Week 3.
Adams got the better of Surtain early in the cornerback's career when they both played in the AFC West. In their second matchup, Surtain allowed four receptions for 85 yards and two touchdowns to Adams, including the game-winning score. After that, Adams trolled the second-year cornerback, saying, "He’s not there yet."
Surtain bounced back when the Broncos faced the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023, only allowing two catches for 16 yards in their first showdown. In the second game, PS2 allowed three receptions for 26 yards. Surtain clearly earned the respect
of Adams in those matches, as the receiver later dubbed him the hardest defensive back to play against.
Adams still considers Surtain one of the best in the NFL, but he has since handed the title of CB1 to his teammate, Trent McDuffie.
"Obviously, Pat is probably one of the best DBs in the league," Adams said this week. "Before coming into this year and playing with Trent, I was saying (Surtain) was the best. That's my guy (McDuffie), and I see him every day, and that's no slight at Pat. I've had a chance to play against Pat quite a few times now, and I love his game, respect it. ... I have a lot of respect for a lot of guys, but he's definitely up there as far as one of the ones I have the most respect for.”
Surtain also praised the veteran receiver this week, referencing their battles earlier in his career.
"It's going to be another battle on Sunday, [I'm] looking forward to it," PS2 said.

Sunday's game (6:20 p.m. MT) will be nationally televised on NBC and available to stream on these platforms.
