The Denver Broncos have won four of their first six games to start the 2026 NFL season, a record anyone within Broncos Country would have gladly taken after the schedule for this season was revealed this spring. However, the team is having its fair share of struggles.
While much of the focus of any negative criticism towards the team is directed at quarterback Bo Nix (and rightfully so), the team's starting center, Luke Wattenberg, is having plenty of issues as well. He's having trouble even getting Nix the ball.
Holding a 14-3 lead in the third quarter on Thursday night against Seattle, the Broncos had just completed a 4-yard pass to J.K. Dobbins to get the ball to their own 41-yard line. On the next play, Wattenberg's snap went way left, forcing
Nix to have to scramble to get the loose ball back.
Luke Wattenberg has had issues with his snaps ever since being the starter for the Broncos and it finally bites them on this drive

Second down play was an atrocious snap and basically killed the drive
It can’t continue like this…
This isn't anything new for Wattenberg; he's had issues with errant snaps during his time as the team's starter, despite receiving a healthy contract extension last season. Any time Alex Forsyth has been asked to step into that role, he's done a good job, and as Nix's former teammate at Oregon, he has always had that familiarity factor going for him. Instead, the Broncos have opted for Wattenberg.
Watteberg addressed his struggles earlier this season, telling Broncos 9News insider Mike Klis, “Bo’s given me grace which is nice. That’s one thing, he’ll never complain or give me a hard time about it. It’s something I’ve got to improve on and I’m working on. It can’t ever happen in a game like that.”
Forsyth would be the next man up should the Broncos consider shuffling the lineup, but that seems unlikely, at least as of this writing, due to the money Wattenberg was recently given. However, if the botched snaps continue to plague him, the team may be forced to strongly consider a change.
