Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton accused the Seattle Seahawks of cheating during the 2024 NFL offseason, Seattle coach Mike Macdonald said during an interview with Graham Bensinger.
Macdonald said the Seattle Seahawks compiled "like 100 plays" from training camp that Broncos
fans had posted as videos on Twitter/X in 2024. Somehow, Payton found out about it, and "he like lost it," according to Macdonald.Macdonald said Payton called Seattle general manager John Schneider and threatened to make it public, presenting it as another SpyGate scandal. Payton thought the Seahawks planted fans to record videos at practice. Macdonald says they didn't; they merely collected fan videos publicly posted on social media, and they countered Payton's threat by
saying they would sue him because his allegations weren't true.
In the end, Payton backed down, and it never became public — until Macdonald revealed the story now.
"He's not my biggest fan," Macdonald said of Payton.
The Seahawks defeated the Broncos 26-20 in their season opener in 2024, and Denver's security has been much stricter about enforcing no phone polices at the team's last two training camps.
