The Denver Broncos are stuck in no man's land.
Sitting at 2-2, the Broncos are just outside the AFC's playoff picture as the conference's eighth seed. Because they are so close to playoff contention, Denver's currently holding a late-teens pick in the 2027 NFL draft.
If the season ended today, the Broncos would be slated to select 18th overall in next year's NFL draft. That's the lowest possible pick for a non-playoff team, and it just about sums up Denver's season so far. They're not a bad team, but they're certainly not playing like a serious playoff team.
Here's a look at the NFL's current draft order for the top 18 picks, courtesy of Tankathon.com.
2027 NFL draft order
- Houston Texans: 0-4
- Tennessee Titans: 0-4
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 0-4
- Los Angeles Chargers: 0-4
- Miami Dolphins: 0-4
- New York Jets: 1-3
- New Orleans Saints: 1-3
- Washington Commanders: 1-3
- Arizona Cardinals: 1-3
- Cincinnati Bengals: 2-2
- New York Jets (via Colts): 2-2
- New York Jets (via Cowboys): 2-2
- Pittsburgh Steelers: 2-2
- Dallas Cowboys (via Packers): 2-2
- Detroit Lions: 2-2
- Philadelphia Eagles: 2-2
- Atlanta Falcons: 2-2
- Denver Broncos: 2-2
Fortunately for the Broncos, there's still plenty of football left to play. Fans in Denver would
love to see the team picking later in the first round in exchange for a deep playoff run this season. For that to happen, the Broncos will have to get their season back on track quickly. Up next is a road game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
