After losing wide receiver Pat Bryant to an ankle injury, the Denver Broncos brought in the son of a Pro Football Hall of Famer for a tryout.
Denver hosted four wide receivers for workouts on Tuesday, including Brenden Rice. He is, of course, the son of Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice, a three-time Super Bowl champion. Jerry Rice spent the majority of his career with the San Francisco 49ers before stints with the Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks. He also spent a summer with the Broncos in 2005 before deciding to retire ahead of the regular season.
Brenden Rice (6-2, 208 pounds) entered the league as a seventh-round pick out of USC with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024. He dressed for three games as a rookie but did not record any receptions.
Since then, Rice has spent time with four other NFL teams, most recently with the Green Bay Packers this summer. Rice has not appeared in a regular-season game since his rookie season with the Chargers.
It looks like the Broncos won't be signing Rice, at least not right now. Denver opted instead to bring back Cam Ross, who went to training camp with Denver this summer. The team's 17-player practice squad is now full.
