Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix reiterated this week that he's healthy following a report that he's had some swelling and stiffness in his ankle after activity and flights this season.
"I feel great. I’m healthy," Nix said after Wednesday's practice. "I feel as good as I’ve felt in a long time, and honestly my GPS numbers during games are telling me that. So I’m really excited about that."
That's Nix's message, but his actions might tell a different story. The quarterback has rushed for 25 yards through the first four games of the 2026 season. Last year, Nix averaged 20.9 rushing yards per game, and he totaled 78 yards on the ground through the first weeks of the 2025 season.
When asked about not running as often as he did last season, Nix suggested
that checking the ball down to running back RJ Harvey is a better option than using his own legs.
“I’ll ask you all, do you all want me with the ball or RJ with the ball?” Nix asked reporters. “RJ. Don’t hesitate. Don’t think twice about it. You all want RJ with the football.”
“Y’all want RJ with the football.”

Nix insisted that he'll run when he believes it's the right decision. So far, he's viewed a checkdown to Harvey as the better choice more often than not this fall.
"I’m going to be extremely confident when my time comes to pull it down and run, but at the same time, you keep seeing RJ and those guys doing what they’re doing with the ball with their hands," Nix said. "It’s like, ‘Get it to the outlet, and let’s move the ball forward.’”
Up next for Nix and Co. is a road showdown with the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5. Denver's offense has been sluggish so far this season, and Nix has appeared reluctant to use his legs as often as he did from 2024-2025. Perhaps that will change on Sunday. If not, expect another big receiving game from Harvey out of the backfield.
