Broncos 53-man roster prediction going into preseason

The Denver Broncos are now just four days away from their preseason opener, and battles for the final spots on the roster are heating up.

Ahead of the team's preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday, we're publishing an updated 53-man roster prediction for the Broncos. This projection predicts quarterback Jarrett Stidham being traded away

, leaving Sam Ehlinger as the team's backup quarterback behind Bo Nix.

Some of the toughest cuts we made were running back Jaleel McLaughlin, tight end Dallen Bentley, offensive lineman Calvin Throckmorton, linebacker Drew Sanders, cornerback Brent Austin and safety JL Skinner. It wouldn't be shocking to see any of those players make the active roster if they stand out in preseason.

After preseason, the Broncos will have until Aug. 30 to finalize an initial 53-man roster. After that, clubs will make waiver claims on Aug. 31 before building 16- or 17-player practice squads. So Denver will have 69 or 70 total players going into the 2026 campaign.
