J.K. Dobbins hasn't looked like himself this season.
After averaging 5.0 yards per carry through ten games last season, Dobbins missed the rest of the campaign with a foot injury. He recovered this offseason and resumed his starting role with the Denver Broncos, but he's averaging just 3.5 yards per carry through the first four games of the 2026 season.
Broncos coach Sean Payton was asked about Dobbins' dip in production after Wednesday's practice.
“It’s early, but he’s an important piece to what we’re doing," Payton said.
Payton's actions might speak louder than his words. RJ Harvey got more snaps and more touches than Dobbins in Week 4, and it's easy to imagine that continuing against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5. Dobbins is listed as the starter
on Denver's depth chart, but if his production doesn't improve soon, the veteran running back might be in danger of losing his RB1 role.
