Spring 2027 is a long ways away, but the newest UFL team from the state of Colorado finally has their new name and logo.
In late September, the spring league announced a new expansion team would be coming to Colorado Springs, and last Sunday, the team came out with its new name: the Colorado Stampede. Its logo was inspired by the Plains Bison.
"From the foothills of Pikes Peak to the heart of Colorado Springs, the Stampede name embodies the independent spirit, resilience, and untamed power of Colorado," the team's new website reads. "Inspired by the Plains Bison - an enduring symbol of strength, determination, and unyielding resilience - the Stampede captures a collective force that builds quietly beneath the surface before surging into view.
It’s the rumble you feel in the ground before the herd arrives, the shared power of a region and its people ready to make their presence felt. Rooted in Colorado’s deep historical heritage and fueled by the energy of football, the name gives fans across the Pikes Peak region a rallying cry and a shared identity."

With a new UFL team in Colorado, it may be easier for the hometown NFL team to find new talent just a short ways away from home. The Denver Broncos have found a lot of talent from the UFL/USFL/XFL, signing players from the spring football leagues in five straight offseasons. Dotted across the active roster and practice squad, the Broncos have found some real gems, including long snapper Mitchell Fraboni, pass-rusher Dondrea Tillman, receiver Michael Bandy (practice squad) and cornerback Sean Fresch (practice squad).
Fresch is one of the newest players from the UFL to join the Broncos, signing with Denver in mid-June. Fresch has seen NFL action this season as a backup since starting corners Pat Surtain and Riley Moss have missed time in the regular season.
Hopefully, more of these talented players can make their way from playing Saturdays and Sundays in Colorado Springs to playing on Sundays for the Broncos up the road.
