The Denver Broncos had a debut fly a bit under the radar during the team's 17-14 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football last week.
After being elevated from the practice squad to the game-day roster
for Week 6, safety Taylor Rapp ended up playing 65 of the defensive snaps (76%), recording six tackles in the win. Only Brandon Jones (85; 100%) played more snaps at safety for Denver on Thursday.Devon Key started the game in place of injured Talanoa Hufanga (ankle), but Key (29; 34%) played fewer than half the defensive snaps of Rapp. Key remains a key member of Denver's special teams units, playing 24 snaps (89%) in the kicking game on Thursday.
With Key being so important on special teams and Hufanga expected to be sidelined for
a few weeks, Rapp could have a key role in the secondary at least until Hufanga returns. The veteran safety was a great addition for the Broncos this summer, and having that kind of depth proved to be invaluable for the secondary last Thursday.
