It wasn't just the Denver Broncos getting down to a 53-man roster over the weekend. Denver ended up cutting 34 players, and the league's 31 other clubs faced the same roster-cut deadline.
More than 1,000 players were cut across the NFL, including a pair of former Broncos quarterbacks: Brett Rypien was cut by the Houston Texans and Brandon Allen was let go by the New York Giants.
Rypien, 30, was a backup in Denver from 2019-2022, going 2-1 as a fill-in starter. Allen, 33, was a backup with the Broncos in 2019, and he went 1-2 as a fill-in starter.
