Jamari Johnson, tight end for the Oregon Ducks, has had a productive time so far in college. Last season, he tallied 32 catches for 510 yards and three touchdowns. He even averaged 15.9 yards per catch.
As Johnson enters his redshirt junior year, he's looking to build upon his 2025 season and become a first-round draft pick in the 2027 NFL draft. Sports Illustrated's Justin Melo recently published a 2027 NFL mock draft, and he believes that Johnson could sneak into the first round, landing with the Denver Broncos.
Due to his size and the pending free agency of current tight end Evan Engram, Melo believes Johnson’s physical attributes could be an advantage if the Broncos draft him.
“Evan Engram is a pending free agent for the Denver Broncos. Oregon
tight end Jamari Johnson is primed for a massive season as the program's replacement for Kenyon Sadiq," Melo wrote for SI. "Johnson has mammoth size, listed at 6-5, 257, and is an excellent concentration catcher in traffic.”
While stock can drop during a college season, Johnson, alongside his Oregon Ducks, is primed for a great campaign. If Johnson does what he's supposed to do, he should very well become a first-round target for Denver in 2027.
