The Detroit Lions brought in former Denver Broncos running back Blake Watson for a tryout this week, according to the NFL's transaction wire.
Watson (5-9, 195 pounds) signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Memphis in 2024. Watson initially began his rookie season on the active roster before later being bumped down to the practice squad. He appeared in two games as a rookie, rushing four times for 10 yards and hauling in a 13-yard reception.
Watson was cut by Denver with an injury settlement in 2025 and he went on to land on the practice squad of the Tennessee Titans. He's been a free agent since being let go by Tennessee in April.
Meanwhile, wide receiver Kyre Duplessis, who was cut by the Broncos earlier this week, cleared waivers
and is now a free agent.
Elsewhere on the ex-Bronco front, safety J.T. Gray was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles, defensive lineman Jonathan Harris signed with the Minnesota Vikings, punter Matt Haack joined the New England Patriots and wide receiver Joaquin Davis was cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
