Welcome back, Lil'Jordan Humphrey.
After releasing the veteran wide receiver ahead of their Monday Night Football clash with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Denver Broncos are re-signing Humphrey to the active roster on Tuesday, according to DNVR's Zac Stevens.
Denver made a procedural move by cutting and then re-signing the receiver. Because he was on the 53-man roster the week leading up to Week 1, Humphrey's veteran minimum base salary will be guaranteed even if he spends most of the season on the practice squad (as opposed to a typical practice squad salary).
However, because he was not on the active roster through the team's Week 1 game, Humphrey's season-long salary is not guaranteed. So, as long as he's with the club, his veteran base salary will
remain the same even if he's bumped down to the practice squad. But if the Broncos eventually part with him, LJH's season-long salary won't be guaranteed.
Denver is expected to eventually promote fullback Adam Prentice and long snapper Mitchell Fraboni from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. When that happens, Humphrey could be a candidate to get bumped down to the practice squad. For now, though, LJH is entering another week on the team's active roster.
