Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix got to meet one of his childhood heroes, Tim Tebow ahead of Week 2. In Week 3 of the 2026 NFL season, Nix will again meet one of his idols, and this time it will be on the football field: Los Angeles Rams quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford.
"It’ll be a really fun game because of that," Nix said of facing Stafford, who is in his 18th season in the NFL. "I’ve always watched him, looked up to him and admired the way he plays the game. He’s just extremely smart. He has a really strong arm, he’s just always been fun to watch."
Stafford began his career with the Detroit Lions before coming to the Rams and winning a Super Bowl in 2021. Nix admitted the current Broncos quarterback room of himself, Jarrett
Stidham and Sam Ehlinger watch and admire how Stafford plays the game.
"As our quarterback room, since I’ve been here for the last couple years, we’ve enjoyed watching their offense and watching him play," Nix said.
Nix expressed his excitement about having the chance to play against another one of his idols.
"It’ll be fun to go against him," Nix said. "It’ll be fun to meet him for the first time; I haven’t ever met him. But at this point in the league, you feel like you play a great quarterback every Sunday. So for me, he’s another guy that I can cross off the list that I could say I watched in person, and I think it’ll be a fun battle between our two teams."

While Nix can watch Stafford from the sideline, All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain spoke about the challenge of facing the MVP on his side of the ball.
"It’s another challenge, we understand that," Surtain said on Wednesday. "Obviously, he’s a vet, he’s been doing it for a long time. He understands schematically, offensively reading coverages, putting the ball in the right areas. He has all the intangibles that you look for in a quarterback, so it’s going to be a great challenge, but we’re going to be ready come Sunday.”
The Broncos and Rams will duke it out under the primetime setting of Sunday Night Football in Week 3. For both teams, the stage is set for the opportunity to assert themselves as true leaders within their respective conferences, and establish themselves as title contenders for the next few months.
