With four seconds left in Sunday's game between the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs, the Chiefs had a consequential and controversial false start penalty on the one-yard line, which negated a potential game-winning touchdown. If the play had been live, the Chiefs would have scored a touchdown on a crossing route with no time left. However, Chiefs right tackle Jaylon Moore moved to back the Chiefs up five yards right before Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was sacked on the final play.
Unsurprisingly, the Chiefs and their fans are not happy about the call. Coach Andy Reid said he didn't see a penalty.
"That’s one man’s opinion," Reid said in his postgame press conference from Empower Field at Mile High. "I saw him move his head, but I didn’t
see a false start.”
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also felt like the Chiefs were on the wrong end of a bad call.
"It couldn’t have been big, but it was called,” Mahomes said after the game. “At the end of the day, you have to go with whatever is called, but a lot of times in those big moments, the little stuff doesn’t get called like that.”
Patrick Mahomes' wife, Brittany, called it the "weakest call I have ever seen" in a social media post after the game.
However, the tale of the tape tells a different story. Take a look for yourself, and you will see Moore flinch after the motion from tight end Travis Kelce on the play. That's a false start every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.
It’s a small movement but Moore does start to move backwards before the snap. It’s the right call. He tries to play it off like he’s turning to the QB. https://t.co/F4HEVH7L1W

Geoff Schwartz, who spent part of his career in Kansas City, said it was the right call.
Did the Chiefs get robbed? Nobody but Kansas City seems to think so. It did provide a dramatic end to a furious comeback and win for the Broncos.
The Broncos and Chiefs are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in the AFC West, and if anything, you can count on a dogfight for the top of the division through the rest of the season.
