Talanoa Hufanga was named Pro Football Focus NFL Defensive Player of the Week. His stellar play against the Los Angeles Rams helped the Denver Broncos defeat L.A. in a 30-26 comeback win.
Hufanga had three tackles, three passes defended, two interceptions and one sack in the victory. So when PFF writer Gordon McGuinness stated Hufanga was his Defensive Player of the Week, the stats surely back it up.
“Hufanga finished the week as PFF’s third-highest-graded safety, with a pair of missed tackles bringing down his grade," McGuinness wrote for PFF. "His impact plays were impossible to deny, though, as he recorded two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown and sealing the game with the other.”
The Broncos' defeat of the Rams brings them to 2-1.
And their next week matchup, against the San Francisco 49ers, will be another test for Hufanga and Denver's defense. Will they rise to the challenge? We will find out next week.
