The Denver Broncos have waived wide receiver Kolbe Katsis, according to a report from the Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson. He will likely be a candidate to return on the practice squad.
Denver signed Katsis as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Arizona this spring after he apparently caught the eye of special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi. The 24-year-old rookie didn't get many opportunities on offense this summer, hauling in one 15-yard catch in preseason, but he did stand out on special teams.
Katsis (6-1, 185 pounds) ranked second in the NFL with an average of 31.2 yards per kickoff return this summer (187 yards on six returns). He also returned three punts for 48 yards.
Marvin Mims is an All-Pro returner, but he's scheduled to become
a free agent in 2027. If the Broncos are able to bring Katsis back on the practice squad, he could be a long-term option for return duties.
