Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton confirmed after Friday's practice that he will be a guest on the alternate ManningCast broadcast of a Monday Night Football showdown between the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 5.
The Saints will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the "Domecoming," which was their first home game at the stadium following Hurricane Katrina. Payton, who coached in New Orleans for that game, will not be in attendance on Monday, but he will be interviewed virtually by Peyton Manning and Eli Manning on ESPN2's broadcast during the game.
"I'm on for a brief period of time," Payton said of his segment. The coach then joked that he was "fired up" when Peyton told him the guests are paid $500,000. "I'm kidding," Payton clarified.
Payton said he's usually game-planning on Monday evenings and doesn't watch the ManningCast himself, but the Mannings are from the New Orleans area and he got "real close" with the family during his time in New Orleans.
