After the way the Denver Broncos opened this season, they couldn't have asked for a better scenario than the one they are currently facing. The bad news is that the team that dealt them a 21-point defeat in Week 1, the Kansas City Chiefs, is the one they will face again this Sunday.
The Broncos overcame many of their issues last week with a win over the Arizona Cardinals, and Bo Nix in particular had a big bounce-back game. The Broncos will hope to carry that momentum into this game against their biggest rival, with first place in the division on the line.
The Broncos have a few things to worry about heading into this one, and we will detail them here.
Broncos' major concerns for Week 8 game vs. Chiefs
Chiefs are coming off a loss: Sometimes, you don't want to play a team coming off a loss in the
NFL, especially one that has Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. After losing badly to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday, the Chiefs are going to place an extra focus on this game, knowing how high the stakes could be.
Expect to see a razor-sharp Chiefs team by the time this one kicks off.
Kenneth Walker: The Broncos have gotten better at defending the run since Kenneth Walker went wild on them in Week 1, but this has to be the last guy the Broncos want to see. Walker rushed for 173 yards the last time these two teams played, and you can bet that the Chiefs are going to try and get him towards that number again.
Bad performance from Week 1 carrying over: It was over six weeks ago when these two teams played, but the Broncos couldn't stop the run, and they tackled so poorly that the Chiefs are going to look to exploit those things again.
This time, the game will be in Denver, so the Chiefs won't have their home crowd along with the emotion of Mahomes returning from a devastating injury, but sometimes the mental game is more difficult to face than the physical one. The Broncos will need to be much better defensively to have a chance to get into the first-place spot in the division.
