The NFL needs to make a Sunday Night Football flex decision for a game involving the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers.
The Broncos (5-2) are set to travel to Charlotte in Week 9 to face the Panthers (3-3) on Sunday, Nov. 8. That game is currently scheduled for 11:00 a.m. MT (1:00 p.m. ET). The game currently slated for SNF features the Chicago Bears (5-2) hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-5).
The NFL might want to keep the Bears in primetime, but the Bucs secured just their second win of the season on Sunday (granted, it was a blowout win over the Panthers). Chicago is a great market for a nationally televised game, but NBC might prefer a Broncos-Panthers matchup over a Bears-Buccaneers matchup for their SNF window.
The NFL makes SNF flex
decisions "no later than 12 days in advance of the game." For the Broncos-Panthers matchup, that makes the deadline for a potential flex Tuesday, Oct. 27. So an announcement will be made by tomorrow late afternoon if there's going to be a flex for Week 9.
