During the first half of the Denver Broncos' game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, CBS sideline reporter Melanie Collins noted that quarterback Bo Nix sometimes still experiences "some swelling and stiffness" in his ankle.
Nix, who underwent ankle surgery in January and a clean-up surgery
in April, told Collins that the swelling and stiffness sometimes pops up after activity or a plane ride.Nix hasn't been on the team's injury report this season, and if he were receiving treatment on his ankle, the club would be required to report it. Nix has also told Collins he feels "as healthy as ever," reiterating what he's said since the summer.
Some Broncos fans have wondered if Nix's January injury has been on his mind to start the 2026 season.
Nix, who rushed 19 times through the team's first three games last season, had eight non-kneel-down carries through the first three games this fall. Granted, it's a small sample size, but Nix hasn't been as active on the ground to start the season. We'll see if that changes in the coming weeks.
