Ahead of one of the more marquee matchups of the 2026 NFL season, the Denver Broncos got some major news which will affect their Week 3 opponent, the Los Angeles Rams.
Rams star pass-rusher Myles Garrett will have knee surgery and be placed on injured reserve, according to The Ringer's Tom Pelissero. Garrett will have to miss at least four games on IR, including a Sunday Night Football game against the Broncos in Week 3. Garrett, who played in the Rams' Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, called his zero-tackle, zero-sack performance "the worst version" of himself.
Garrett's acquisition had been the offseason's biggest blockbuster when he was dealt from the Cleveland Browns to the Rams. Garrett, the two-time Defensive Player of the Year, set
the NFL's single-season individual sack record in 2025. Garrett's addition to the Rams was also highly anticipated with the return of future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald, who came out of retirement with Los Angeles for the 2026 season. While the Rams won't have Garrett on SNF, they could have Donald against Denver.
Despite Garrett's absence, the Broncos will face an uphill climb against the Rams, who possess the most star-studded roster in the NFL in 2026. The matchup will be a primetime affair on Sunday Night Football.
The Broncos begin their season against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday.
