The Denver Broncos are placing wide receiver Pat Bryant on injured reserve after he sprained his ankle against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4, according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The news comes a few days after Broncos coach Sean Payton said, "I don't think so" when asked if anyone would be placed on IR this week.
Bryant will now have to sit out at least four games before being eligible to return. Denver's next four games are against the Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. Bryant will be eligible to return ahead of the team's Week 9 game against the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 8.
Denver now has four remaining healthy receivers on the active roster: Jaylen Waddle, Courtland Sutton,
Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims. One potential candidate to replace Bryant on the 53-man roster over the next four games could be Lil'Jordan Humphrey, who was just bumped down to the practice squad last week.
The Broncos will face the Los Angeles Chargers on the road this weekend.
