The Denver Broncos kept the Los Angeles Chargers winless on the season following a 23-17 Denver victory on Sunday. But it didn't come easily, and against a heavily depleted Chargers squad, many felt it should have.
Much of the blame for that is being placed at the feet of quarterback Bo Nix, much like it was last week following a 10-point loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Nix is failing to make timely throws and is just flat-out missing reads in many situations.
Take a look at the visible frustration on the face of the team's new wide receiver, Jaylen Waddle, this Sunday.
This led to former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky taking Nix to task on Monday, the day after the game.
Dan Orlovsky discusses recent struggles for Bo Nix

"Here's the thing where Bo [Nix] still is," said Orlovsky on The Pat McAfree Show. "Bo is one and almost panic right now. What I mean is, okay, if the No. 1 guy is there, he's fine. No. 2 guy is there, cut it loose, if it's not there, it's like, oh gosh, and he starts to panic."
"He's really, really right now struggling with just his feet in the pocket, his calmness in the pocket with his feet when that first read isn't there and he's got to get to the second and third, and so, they've got to get that figured out".
Nix's footwork has been discussed here before. It's an issue that has existed since he came into the league. He now seems to be losing confidence in his ability to make plays when his first read isn't open. That is an incredibly concerning sign. The Broncos are calling the right plays. Nix has clean pockets to throw from. He's just not making the plays.
It will be quite difficult for this team to reach its ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl if that doesn't change drastically.
