After losing wide receiver Pat Bryant to an ankle injury, the Denver Broncos are left with four healthy receivers on the active roster: Jaylen Waddle, Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims.
Denver shored up the depth a little when the club brought back Cam Ross on the practice squad, but he's an unproven, undrafted rookie who made his biggest impact as a returner during preseason. The Broncos could use a more established veteran receiver to add more depth while Bryant is sidelined.
Here's a quick list of five receivers the Broncos could consider adding, either to the active roster or the practice squad, while Bryant is sidelined.
5 free agent wide receivers for Broncos
1. WR Gabe Davis (27): Davis has averaged 15.9 yards per catch in his career and he has the size (6-2, 225
pounds) that coach Sean Payton likes in receivers, similar to Bryant (6-2, 204 pounds)
2. WR Curtis Samuel (30): The former second-round draft pick missed most of last season on injured reserve, but he made the most of his limited opportunities with three catches for 35 yards and a touchdown on four targets in two games.
3. WR Josh Reynolds (31): Reynolds played in Payton's offense in 2024, but he was shot while on injured reserve and later released from IR after he recovered. Before landing on IR with a finger injury, Reynolds totaled 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown in five games with the Broncos. He has since spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets.
4. WR River Cracraft (31): The veteran receiver spent the first three years of his career in Denver, and he's spent time with five other NFL clubs since then. He could add depth both as a receiver and as a returner.
5. WR Zay Jones (31): Another former second-round draft pick, Jones had a stint with the Houston Texans this summer but did not make their 53-man roster. He averaged 15.3 yards per catch in eight games with the Arizona Cardinals in 2025.
Denver would need to make corresponding roster moves to make room for any new arrivals.
