Six weeks into the fantasy football season, a host of injuries have left managers scrambling to find replacements at running back, tight end and wide receiver. We've put together a quick list of ten fantasy football waiver wire targets to consider this week, including Denver Broncos running back Jonah Coleman.
J.K. Dobbins has received 20 touches and scored one touchdown in each of the last two games since coach Sean Payton took over play-calling duties, but his efficiency (3.1 yards per carry) has been poor. Dobbins has also struggled with injuries throughout his career.
Meanwhile, RJ Harvey is an excellent receiver out of the backfield, but the Broncos found out last season that he's probably not best-suited for an every-down role. So if Denver's
backfield rotation ends up changing (due to poor performance or injury), Coleman could be the next man up. He's eligible to return from injured reserve this week and is worth stashing on your bench, especially in deeper leagues.
Here is our full list of fantasy football waiver wire targets to consider going into Week 7. Note that each player's roster percentage is listed in parentheses, provided courtesy of ESPN data. Let's jump in.
10 fantasy football waiver wire targets in Week 7
1. RB Roschon Johnson (4%): Kyle Monangai's injury status will have a big impact on Johnson's fantasy value going forward. For as long as Monangai is sidelined, Johnson will be worth flex consideration. He totaled 85 yards from scrimmage and scored a touchdown on Sunday.
2. RB Zach Charbonnet (57%): Charbonnet is already owned in a majority of leagues, but it's worth checking if he's available in your league. He is eligible to return from the PUP list, and the Seahawks' running backs have been struggling. Charbonnet should have an opportunity to take on a big role in Seattle as soon as he's activated.
3. RB Mike Washington (19%): Ashton Jeanty suffered an ankle injury in August and he more recently suffered a foot injury that might be impacting his performance. Jeanty rushed 10 times for just 22 yards on Sunday while Washington turned nine carries into 43 yards. Jeanty did score a touchdown, and he hauled in four receptions, so Washington isn't taking over the backfield, at least not at the moment. That said, Washington is worth stashing in case there are any developments in the Raiders' backfield rotation.
4. RB Jonah Coleman (20%): As mentioned above, Dobbins has been inefficient and Harvey is best used as a receiver out of the backfield. That could open up an opportunity for Coleman to carve out a role in the second half of the season.
5. RB Tyrone Tracy (2%): After fumbling four times in five games, Cam Skattebo was essentially benched on Sunday (even if John Harbaugh denies that). Elsewhere in the backfield, Najee Harris and Devin Singletary each got four carries while Tracy led the Giants with six carries. Tracy totaled 45 yards from scrimmage on nine touches and scored two touchdowns. He's obviously not going to score twice every week, but Tracy seems to be the best option in the Giants' backfield at the moment.
6. TE Brenton Strange (44%): Strange has drawn seven, eight and eight targets over the last three weeks, averaging 6.3 receptions and 69 yards per game during that stretch. Those aren't massive numbers, but they make Strange a serviceable tight end option in fantasy once the Jaguars return from their bye.
7. WR Germie Bernard (44%): The Steelers are dealing with injuries at wide receiver and Bernard has stepped up, totaling 11 receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown in Week 6. One week earlier, he turned nine targets into six receptions for 80 yards. Bernard is playing well enough to keep his role in Pittsburgh's offense even after other WRs return from injury.
8. WR Tre Tucker (44%): Tucker has emerged in Las Vegas, averaging just under six targets per game this season, totaling 24 receptions for 371 yards and three touchdowns through six games. That puts him in flex consideration, especially if you're dealing with injuries or bye weeks at wide receiver.
9. WR Omar Cooper (3%): In his first game back from an ankle injury, Cooper hauled in six receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown. The rookie first-round draft pick will now look to keep the momentum going against a Miami defense that ranks seventh-worst in touchdown receptions allowed (11).
10. WR Jaylin Noel (5%): Noel turned four receptions into 107 yards and a touchdown on Sunday, his second score in as many weeks. He's a serviceable fill-in option if you're thin at WR this week.
