The Denver Broncos have set their 17-player practice squad for the 2026 NFL season, which means 17 players won't be returning (at least not at the moment).
The Broncos lost tight end Justin Joly (a fifth-round draft pick) and cornerback Reese Taylor to the Miami Dolphins on the NFL's waiver wire. Taylor would have signed with Denver's practice squad had he cleared waivers. Joly was less certain as the Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson reported the tight end was evaluating his options after being let go by the Broncos. In the end, Miami made Joly's decision for him.
The Broncos did not offer a practice squad spot to wide receiver/returner Cam Ross or outside linebacker Dasan McCullough. Interestingly, Denver also is not bringing back undrafted Taurean
York, who received a big signing bonus this spring. It's unclear if it was the Broncos' decision or York's preference not to join Denver's practice squad.
And, of course, running back Jaleel McLaughlin will not return. That's not a surprise after McLaughlin shared a goodbye message on his Instagram page after being waived on Sunday.

Another roster transaction to note: OLB Drew Sanders cleared waivers on Monday and reverted to Denver's injured reserve list. So that's another player who won't end up on the practice squad, although he's back with the team.
It seems that the dust has settled and the Broncos have 70 healthy players between their 53-man active roster and 17-player practice squad, but there's always the possibility of a few more tweaks in the coming days.
