The Denver Broncos are adding some depth to their secondary after losing starting cornerbacks Pat Surtain (ankle) and Riley Moss (ribs) to injuries in Week 4.
The Broncos signed defensive back Ugo Amadi to their practice squad on Friday, according to the Denver Post's Parker Gabriel. Amadi (5-9, 201 pounds) has been listed as a safety in the past, but he'll likely provide depth as a nickelback for the Broncos. Jahdae Barron is expected to move to the outside to fill in for Surtain, which leaves no immediate backup behind McMillian in the slot. Amadi now gives the team more depth at that spot.
Amadi, 29, has spent time with six NFL teams, including the New Orleans Saints (although he didn't overlap with coach Sean Payton). The veteran defensive
back has totaled 208 tackles, 22 pass breakups, two sacks and one interception in 85 career games (17 starts).
Denver also placed wide receiver Pat Bryant (ankle) on injured reserve on Friday, ruling him out for at least four games. To fill Bryant's former spot on the 53-man roster, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Broncos promote receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey from the practice squad. That could open up a spot for Amadi.
