Jaleel McLaughlin is getting a promotion.
After the Cleveland Browns placed running back Dylan Sampson on injured reserve with a significant knee injury, they promoted McLaughlin from the practice squad to the active roster. McLaughlin, who spent the first three years of his career with the Denver Broncos, joined the Browns on Sept. 1 after being cut by the Broncos in late August.
McLaughlin now appears poised to serve as Cleveland's third running back behind Quinshon Judkins and backup Raheim Sanders. McLaughlin totaled 1,356 yards from scrimmage and scored seven touchdowns in 41 games in Denver, but the Broncos opted to go with J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey, Jonah Coleman and Tyler Badie this season.
