As Denver Broncos rookie running back Jonah Coleman reflected on his Rookie of the Week-nominated performance in the Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, he remembered a piece of advice veteran J.K. Dobbins had given him.
"J.K. always preached to me, ‘Be ready for your opportunity,'" Coleman said in his postgame remarks on Sunday. "'Be ready for your moment and take full advantage of it. You never know when your number is going to be called.’"
Coleman more than made the most of his first extended action since being selected in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL draft. Dobbins and Coleman were the top two backs in the absence of RJ Harvey on Sunday. The two backs combined for 23 touches for 94 yards, while Coleman ran for the eventual game-sealing
score late in the fourth quarter. Dobbins was injured late in the game, while Coleman iced the game with a pair of 12-yard runs.
Coleman had a mature, team-first answer when asked about his success in Week 2.
"The offensive line had a great push, and I was able to get in there," Coleman said. "But it felt great to do that and ultimately put the team up and be able to take the lead and just let the defense go out there and rush because that's what we do. So it was great to do that.”

Coleman was lauded by coach Sean Payton and quarterback Bo Nix for his veteran-like final run, where he slid down in-bounds to keep the clock running, ultimately finishing the game on an extremely high note.
Coleman certainly earned the attention of Broncos decision-makers on the team. Will he see more action in Week 3 and beyond? A lot of that will rest on the health of Dobbins and Harvey, but he may have shown enough to get more playing time in the coming weeks.
