In the excitement of the Denver Broncos' 28-24 comeback victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season, there was a player whose own personal accomplishment went largely unheeded in the aftermath.
Broncos kicker Wil Lutz came into Sunday's contest just one extra point short of tying the NFL record for consecutive extra points (111) converted since the NFL backed up the PAT from 20 yards to 33 yards in 2015. In the victory, Lutz converted two extra points to surpass the NFL record and the man who originally set it on the other side of the field, Justin Tucker, who was signed as a backup kicker to Harrison Butker earlier in the week.

The two points ended up being extremely crucial to the victory, as Denver won by four points at the end of regulation.
Lutz has been extremely reliable for the Broncos, hitting several game-winning kicks and, of course, extra points during his time in Denver. His reliability and automatic nature on kicks earned him a three-year extension, which will keep him in orange and blue through 2028.

Wil Lutz' 22 game-winning kicks is the most in the NFL since he entered the league in 2016.
Although Lutz had a tough start to the season, he has rebounded nicely and is still very much a part of Denver's on-field success.
Lutz and the Broncos will look to extend his streak for extra points and the team's three-game win streak on Sunday in a Week 9 showdown against the Carolina Panthers.
