This season will mark the first year since the Denver Broncos cut former quarterback Russell Wilson in 2024 that the club will be free of his contract fallout, and the numbers are significant.
After cutting Wilson two years ago, the Broncos took on the largest "dead money" salary cap hit in NFL history ($85 million, spread over two seasons). That massive number is finally off the team's books, and the team now has just $5,984,453 in dead money counting against their 2026 salary cap, according to OverTheCap.com. Only the Seattle Seahawks ($2,331,293) have a lower dead money total in the NFL.
Denver's largest cap hits this season are right tackle Mike McGlinchey ($23,775,000) and defensive lineman Zach Allen ($16,477,000). Everyone else on the team
is below $15 million, and only eight players are above $10 million.
Broncos quarterback Bo Nix ($5,076,318) still has two seasons remaining on his rookie contract, plus a potential fifth-year option for the 2028 season, and that certainly helps. Nix will be eligible for a contract extension next spring.
