Brandon Stokley broke the news, then Mike Florio confirmed it.
Now the NFL's national reporters have put their spin on it, and one can only wonder if the spin was published at the request of the club.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday that Denver is "taking a more collaborative play-calling approach" this week, with Sean Payton having "an increased role" while offensive coordinator Davis Webb will continue to have "a significant game-planning and game-day role."
That's seemingly an extremely diplomatic way of saying Payton is taking play-calling duties back from Webb.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo continued the spin, reporting that Payton "will be more heavily involved" in play-calling this week, but the "process will remain
collaborative," and Webb will continue to be "a major voice" on game day and during the week.
Webb (and all of Denver's coordinators) have a routine of speaking to media members on Thursdays, so we'll hear from Webb directly after today's practice.
