The Colorado Buffaloes didn't play in Week 6, but ESPN's Football Power Index bumped the Buffs up one spot thanks to other results across college football.
Colorado holds a -0.4 Football Power Index score, up 0.1 from last week. The small bump moved the Buffaloes from No. 16 to No. 15 in the Big 12, with West Virginia falling to last in the conference. However, Colorado still has the worst projected record at 4.1-7.9. Despite the projected record holding steady, the Buffs' bowl chances improved by 0.5% as losses and performances from teams on their remaining schedule suggest future games will be a bit easier.
A win would do Colorado change the narrative surrounding the program, but it won't be easy with another top-15 team coming into Boulder:
the No. 11 Utah Utes. The Utes moved up two spots in the latest FPI update and are now the top team in the Big 12 and the tenth-best team nationally.
Colorado football's updated FPI ranking after Week 6 bye
- FPI Rank: No. 71 (15th in Big 12)
- Projected win-loss record: 4.1-7.9
- Six-win chance: 14.4%
- CFP chance: 0.0%
- Big 12 title chance: 0.0%
