Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis suffered a "medical emergency" at the university's athletic facility on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and was taken to the hospital but is now recovering, his father announced on social media Thursday morning.
"He is recovering and thankful to his medical team, teammates, and Colorado fans for their prayers and support," said his father, T. Carlton Lewis, on social media. "Please respect Julian and the Lewis family's privacy. We will have no further comment at this time."
Lewis was listed as doubtful on the Big 12 availability report Wednesday evening after the emergency, meaning he is doubtful for Colorado's home game against Kansas State on Saturday. Lewis has not appeared in a game for the Buffaloes since Sept. 26, when
he was benched at halftime against Baylor.

Colorado coach Deion Sanders discussed Lewis during his Tuesday press conference before the medical emergency and said Lewis' playing the rest of the year is fully "on him."
Lewis is 2-4 as Colorado's starting quarterback but has been demoted to third string since his benching, with Utah transfer Isaac Wilson starting the Buffaloes' last three games.
Colorado will likely now face Kansas State with only two dressed quarterbacks: Wilson and true freshman Kaneal Sweetwyne.
