Week 2 is in the books, and the Colorado Buffaloes are 2-0 following a blowout victory over Weber State that still left Deion Sanders and his team unsatisfied with the performance. Because the win was expected and not as dominant as it could have been, Colorado did not receive a vote in the updated US LBM Coaches Poll.
After receiving one vote in the post-Week 1 preseason US LBM Coaches Poll, CU dropped off the receiving votes section entering Week 3.
Elsewhere in college football, we saw a big shakeup, with losses by Ohio State, Oregon and Oklahoma. Texas, which had an incredible comeback against the Buckeyes, takes over the top spot, receiving 42 first-place votes. Georgia remains at No. 2 with 15 first-place votes, while Notre Dame moves up to No. 3.
Indiana (No. 4) and Miami (No. 5) round out the top five. Ohio State drops to No. 6.
Texas Tech leads the Big 12 in the rankings at No. 12, moving up one spot, followed by BYU at No. 13, Utah at No. 17 and Houston at No. 23. In the receiving vote section, Kansas State leads the way in the conference with 24 votes. Oklahoma State (16 votes) and Arizona (one vote) are the other two Big 12 programs in the receiving votes section.
Florida was the only team to fall from the poll, while Oregon dropped the most spots (12) and Oklahoma fell 11. Michigan's five-spot jump was the largest of the week after they took down the Sooners at the Big House.
If Colorado wants to make a mark in the poll next week, a win against Northwestern in Week 3 should do the trick.
