After a narrow loss to Utah last week, ESPN's Football Index recalibrated the Colorado Buffaloes' standing after a fifth straight loss.
The Buffs fell 12 spots and are now ranked last in the Big 12, moving behind Iowa State and Kansas. Colorado is now ranked No. 75 nationally and has a -1.9 FPI score.
Worse still for Buffs fans, FPI now projects Colorado to win only one more game this season, giving the program a projected record of 3.4-8.6. Its bowl projection also fell 10%, with the analytic model giving Colorado just a 3% chance at reaching six wins, which would clinch a bowl berth.
If Colorado wins out, it will finish 7-5 (5-4 Big 12), which FPI currently views as a 0.3% possibility.
CU is looking for a win in the worst way possible, and fortunately
for the Buffaloes, the schedule does lighten up. Kansas State visits Boulder this week with a major quarterback problem, then the Buffs head to Tempe to take on an Arizona State team ranked just above the last-ranked Buffs in FPI.
