The favorite to win the national championship is the same as last week, but other odds are changing. Florida has cracked the top 10 after their 52-28 win over Ole Miss, who dropped out of the top eight, while Georgia's odds and Notre Dame's odds improved and Texas' odds stayed the same.
Miami also saw their odds rise after another dominant offensive performance, while Indiana's odds took a hit after nearly being upset by Northwestern. That game ended 29-23. LSU also saw their odds go down slightly despite their first win over a ranked team of the season.
Here is where the title contenders stand courtesy of FanDuel after four weeks.
Ohio State (+480)
Despite losing to Texas in Week 2, the Buckeyes are still considered the favorites to win the National Championship.
Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is unstoppable and became Ohio State's leading receiver during their win against Illinois when he had 217 receiving yards and four touchdowns. It is easy to see why they are the favorites, with arguably the best player in college football on their roster.
Georgia (+500)
Georgia is undefeated through the first four games. But they still have not faced a true test. Their game against Oklahoma, when they won by 28 points, was their closest game of the season; the Sooners were also their toughest opponent so far. I would not bet on the Bulldogs just yet. Wait until after they play Alabama and see how they look.
Texas (+550)
So far, Texas is the most battle-tested team in college football with wins against Ohio State and Tennessee. They may not be the flashiest team, but they have an elite defense and keep winning games. Their remaining schedule is tough, with matchups against Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, and LSU, all of which are currently ranked. If they keep winning, then there is no reason to bet against them.
Notre Dame (+600)
Their win against Wisconsin looks a little better after the Badgers took down Penn State. However, the Fighting Irish still have not faced a true contender. They lack stars in the running and receiving game like some other National Championship contenders, which is concerning for their championship odds.
Miami (+700)
There is no other offense that looks as explosive as the Hurricanes. Malachi Toney is the only wide receiver who can contend with Jeremiah Smith as the best receiver in all of college football. Darian Mensah is a very good quarterback, and with those two, Miami can beat anyone and certainly can win the National Championship after coming up just short last year.
Indiana (+1100)
The Hoosiers were one onside kick away and a touchdown away from being the biggest upset of the week. Indiana has a talented roster and is undefeated so far. However, I have real reservations about whether they can be true contenders. Their game against Ohio State in a few weeks should address that.
LSU (+1600)
After their loss to Ole Miss, the Tigers rebounded with a dominant win over Texas A&M. Even so, I do not believe LSU will win the National Championship. I think this team will only go as far as quarterback Sam Leavitt, and he is not as talented as the quarterbacks on other teams such as Ohio State and Miami. LSU will most likely make the playoffs and maybe even win a game, but they will not win it all.
Florida (+1700)
Florida is the biggest surprise of the season so far. They are undefeated and completely dismantled the Rebels in a 24-point blowout. The Gators have a talented running back in Jadan Baugh who already has 600 rushing yards, including 142 yards and three touchdowns against Ole Miss. Quarterback Aaron Philo has done well this season even though he did not have to do much against the Rebels. They have another tough matchup against Missouri next week and will also have to face Texas and Georgia. Making the playoffs may be tough, but it will be fun to see how well they do this season.
