Colorado football continues its 2026 season with its home opener in Week 2 against a Football Championship Subdivision opponent: the Weber State Wildcats.
The Buffaloes hope to build on their season-opening win against Georgia Tech, where they showed a new-look offense that prioritized running the ball and a defense that was stout against the run. They can improve in a few areas, including a more consistent passing game and cleaner play from the secondary.
Weber State enters Saturday's contest 1-1, but is coming off a heartbreaking loss to in-state rival Southern Utah, where the Wildcats gave up 368 yards and over 500 yards of total offense. Weber State is a lower-level FCS team, and Colorado should not have too much trouble putting the Wildcats away.
Colorado enters the contest as the heavy favorite, and anything less than a dominant second win of the season would be a significant disappointment.

- Colorado 48, Weber State 10: I was thoroughly impressed with Colorado's play at the line of scrimmage in Week 1. The defensive line had its moments, although I wanted more from the pass rush, while the offensive line was spectacular. Considering Weber State's struggles against the run, expect offensive coordinator Brennan Marion to lean heavily on the ground game. I'm always hesitant to pick a team to cover a 30-plus-point spread, but I can see the Buffs doing just that this weekend. Here are our detailed staff predictions for the matchup
