The Colorado Buffaloes (2-5, 0-4 Big 12) continued their slide in Week 8, losing 57-24 to Oklahoma State after 37 unanswered points. Fortunately for the Buffs, the schedule lightens this week with a home game against the Kansas State Wildcats
, 4-3 overall and 1-3 in the Big 12. CU might not be favored, but it is only a slight underdog this week after being a double-digit underdog the last few games.Entering the Kansas State-Colorado game, the Wildcats have some major questions at quarterback. Starting quarterback Avery Johnson missed last weekend's game against Arizona State, and third-string quarterback Blake Barnett did too. Jacob Knuth started and struggled, completing just 26 of 41 passes.
Who starts at quarterback is anyone's guess, with
head coach Collin Klein saying Monday that all four quarterbacks, including the emergency quarterback, are banged up.
Colorado's defense showed holes, especially at cornerback, where the Buffs were exposed all game long. Against a depleted K-State team, Chris Marve's unit should bounce back.
For Colorado's offense, the key is getting the running game going against one of the Big 12's worst run defenses, as the Wildcats give up 158 yards per game. On the other hand, Kansas State's pass defense is borderline elite, ranking fifth in the country, allowing just 141 yards per game
