Colorado football will meet Georgia Tech for the second time in program history Thursday night, with the Yellow Jackets holding a 1-0 series lead.
Georgia Tech won the first matchup 27-20 at Folsom Field to open up the 2025 season. Quarterback Haynes King delivered the defining performance, rushing for 156 yards and three touchdowns. His 45-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter broke a 20-20 tie and secured the Yellow Jackets' victory.
The rematch moves to Atlanta, where Colorado will play at Bobby Dodd Stadium at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. Deion Sanders, who is a former Atlanta superstar with the Falcons and Braves, enters his third season leading the Buffaloes, and the program has reworked its roster on both sides of the ball.
The game also carries
a connection to the 1990 split national championship debate. Colorado received the AP national championship, while Georgia Tech finished first in the UPI Coaches Poll. The programs did not meet during that championship season.
Georgia Tech finished the 2025 season with nine wins, while Colorado finished with three victories. The Yellow Jackets ran for 320 yards in last year's meeting, and the Buffaloes will look to stop the run this time around.
Thursday's game will give Coach Prime's team their first opportunity to even the all-time series and open the 2026 season with an impressive road victory.
