Colorado's meeting with Kansas State this Saturday takes us back to Oct. 22, 1994, when Kordell Stewart helped the Buffaloes win a close game at Folsom Field.
No. 2 Colorado defeated No. 19 Kansas State 35-21 in front of 52,955 fans, with Stewart rushing for 127 yards and three touchdowns. Rashaan Salaam added 202 rushing yards and two scores on 28 carries.
McCartney trusts Stewart on fourth down

The teams entered the fourth quarter tied 21-21. With roughly 10 minutes remaining, coach Bill McCartney kept his offense on the field for fourth-and-one at Colorado's 38-yard line.
Stewart gained two yards on a sneak. On the next snap, he kept the ball on an option play and ran 60 yards for the go-ahead touchdown.
"They had a linebacker guarding the pitch to Rashaan; a linebacker tried to play
Rashaan and me, and I took advantage and ducked under," Stewart said afterward.
Stewart added another rushing touchdown with eight seconds remaining to complete the scoring.
Colorado's ground game delivers another ranked win

Kansas State became the first opponent that season to score on its opening possession against Colorado. Salaam answered less than two minutes later with a 53-yard touchdown run.
The Buffaloes finished with 339 rushing yards, while Kansas State managed 72. Stewart also passed for 136 yards, becoming the second player in Big Eight history to surpass 5,000 career passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards.
The victory was Colorado's fifth against a ranked opponent that season, a program first. McCartney's team eventually finished 11-1 and No. 3 nationally, with Salaam winning the Heisman Trophy.
