After snapping their five-game losing streak with an overtime win over Kansas State, the Buffaloes saw their standing improve in ESPN's Football Power Index after all the Week 9 action.
The Buffs moved up two spots, but remain the last-ranked team in the Big 12, right behind their Week 10 opponent, Arizona State. CU is ranked No. 73 nationally with a -0.8 FPI score.
FPI also raised Colorado's projected record from 3.4-8.6 to 4.3-7.7, about a full win more, perhaps suggesting another winnable game this weekend. More importantly for the Buffaloes, it's a six-win projection, which would guarantee a bowl game, increased to 10.9% up from 3% last week. Colorado needs to win three of its final four games to reach six wins.
If Colorado wins out, it will
finish 7-5 (5-4 Big 12), which FPI currently views as a 1.2% possibility.
With the Buffaloes' most winnable Power Four game now in the past, CU heads to Tempe to take on an Arizona State team that FPI views as the Big 12's second-worst team right in front of Colorado.
